WASHINGTON, DC – Statement from Brian Scarpelli, executive director of the Connected Health Initiative on the Passage of a Two-Year Extension for Medicare Telehealth Waivers:

“The Connected Health Initiative (CHI) applauds Congress’ firm action to extend waiver authority for reimbursement of telehealth services through Medicare. This two-year extension will give patients, healthcare providers, insurers, and others in the healthcare system the security they need to continue incorporating life-saving telehealth services in patient care. It is also another important step towards permanent reimbursement for Medicare telehealth services, a key goal of CHI and other digital health advocates. We are thankful the Senate has acknowledged the importance of these waivers, and hope that they will continue to work toward a permanent solution.”
